'I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become' - Carl Jung

Hello, my name is Emma Furr MA MBACP (Accred). I am a qualified and accredited counsellor and psychotherapist working with individuals and couples at my private practice in South West London.

I work exclusively with adults and currently provide telephone, video, walk-and-talk, and face-to-face therapy sessions from my South West London base. I offer understanding, support, calm, and a safe confidential space to explore a broad range of psychological issues including anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.

It can sometimes be challenging to find the right counsellor and psychotherapist. I will tell you a little bit about how I work and what I believe in, and then if you would like a telephone chat before you decide to book to see me, you are very welcome.

As an integrative trained psychotherapist I seek to put the individual client first and foremost, whilst also being able to draw on a number of different approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, relational, and embodied psychotherapy.

I use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) whenever it is appropriate.

I work with individuals and couples on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

I have worked with a broad range of issues and bring a wealth of experience, having offered brief psychodynamic therapy with Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust; Long term integrative psychotherapy with Kingston Women's Centre; Individual counselling to patients, their carers, and those bereaved through cancer at The Mulberry Centre; As a Specialist Mentor with Diversity and Ability supporting University students. I am also trained to work with anxiety disorders as an Anxiety UK approved therapist, and I am trauma-informed.

Counselling and psychotherapy can provide a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and supportive space for you to bring any problems you are having and explore difficult thoughts and feelings, you might be experiencing, helping you to find purpose, meaning and the strength to make positive changes.

You might seek counselling and psychotherapy because you are struggling to cope, feeling dissatisfied with your life, having problems with relationships, trying to process a loss or a change, struggling to find the passion and joy in your life, or finding it difficult to make a big decision. You might want to make sense of things that have happened in the past, to think about your future, or need help to feel calm and centred or just get some extra support to help you through a tough time.

I also work with couples who are experiencing difficulties in their relationship. Couples counselling can provide a secure and structured way to gain new perspectives about each other and the way you relate in a caring and supportive environment, enabling you both to find healthier ways of communicating and being together. I work with all personal relationship and family issues. All relationship identities are welcomed and sexual orientations, LGTBQ+.

I am a recognised AVIVA, AXA PPP and Bupa Healthcare practitioner registered with the Healthcode Private Practice Register. I have professional indemnity insurance, am registered with ICO and have an enhanced DBS certificate.
